About Prof. Steve Fallows

In the 1970s, immediately after graduating, Professor Fallows worked with a local organisation, Dzithandizeni Chipata Nutrition Group in the Eastern Province of Zambia, which focused on nutrition education and promoting nutritional wellbeing of the local community. This project was supported by organisations such as OXFAM and NOVIB.

Upon his return to the UK, Professor Fallows completed his PhD in food and nutrition policy at the University of Bradford. He then spent a period of time working on various food and nutrition policy projects as a postdoctoral researcher at the same university before transitioning to a career in computer-based education in the late 1980s. He was appointed as the manager of the University’s early explorations in this field.

In 1992, Professor Fallows became a Reader in Educational Development at the University of Luton. In 2001, he returned to his original discipline of nutrition and joined the Centre for Exercise and Nutrition Science at the University of Chester as Research Co-ordinator.

Within the Department of Clinical Sciences, Professor Fallows teaches Nutrition & Health and Research Methods. He manages the research phase of the department’s MSc programmes and provides advice to students on project design and research ethics.

At the university level, Professor Fallows serves as the Senior Academic Tutor for Postgraduate Research students, a member of the management team for the University’s Graduate School, and the Academic Link Tutor for PhD students located at Glyndwr University. He supervises several PhD students within the department. Professor Fallows’ extensive experience and expertise make him a valuable asset to both the department and the university.
