This programme equips certified fitness instructors with the expertise to safely and effectively incorporate a diverse range of step aerobics exercises in to their training sessions, to assist clients in meeting their unique fitness requirements and goals.

The National Qualification in Step Aerobics course is an all-encompassing programme designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the best practices and techniques for conducting safe and effective exercises.
Upon successful completion of this training course, qualified health fitness instructors and personal trainers will have the confidence and ability to prescribe the most appropriate step aerobics training methods suitable for group exercise training.
Our programme covers all essential areas including the latest scientific research, equipment handling and safety, choreography and music, and injury prevention. You will receive hands-on training from our experienced instructors and will have the opportunity to apply your skills in practical exercises.
With the skills acquired from this training, you will be equipped to lead dynamic and engaging group exercise classes, providing your clients with the ultimate step aerobics experience. You will have the knowledge and skills to create a range of safe and effective training exercises, tailored to your clients’ specific needs and goals.

I took part in the NTC PT course in the spring semester of 2017 in Cork and wanted to provide you with an update on what’s happened since qualifying. I managed to find work experience and am now happy to announce that I was offered a job as a coach in a private service in Cork and have been enjoying the experience so much and learning a lot.
It was the NTC course that helped me get there and I just wanted to thank you for that. If you ever need any former students to give a reference or advice to a class, let me know and I’d be happy to do so.

Hi Michelle, I just wanted to share a recent experience and give a big thank you to you and the girls involve in group fitness class.
I went for an interview 2 days ago for a position that I really wanted to get at a gym club in London. As well as a one to one interview, it involved a group practical assessment where candidates needed to teach a class. I had prepared a circuit as my assessment but at the moment to teach my class I changed my mind and decided to teach a group fitness class to the beat. I got a called from the manager yesterday offering me the job, I was actually shocked because I didn’t expect it as I have no experience at all in the fitness industry. The manager said he was impressed with the class, he loved it that it was to the beat, how it was structured as well as the teaching points and everything, and despite the fact that there were candidates with far more experience, they were good but it’s easier to put a circuit together than doing an exercise to music class. I’m very happy with what I got to learn doing the course with the NTC and happy that investing money there was totally worth it.😃

Our Step Aerobics course is designed to provide comprehensive training in all key areas of step aerobics instruction, ensuring that you have the knowledge and skills to create effective and engaging step aerobics classes.
Throughout the programme, you will learn about a range of topics related to step aerobics, including the different approaches to using the step platform, the importance of platform height, and techniques for increasing or reducing intensity. You will also learn about muscle balancing, teaching and cuing skills, injury prevention, lever lengths, foot placement, and foot strike, all of which are essential for creating safe and effective step aerobics routines.
Our course also covers the importance of music tempo, step patterns, and choreography in creating engaging and varied step aerobics sessions. Whether you are working with beginner or advanced clients, you will have the skills to tailor your classes to their individual fitness levels and goals.
In addition, our course includes a section on suitability for pre-natal clients, ensuring that you have the knowledge and skills to create safe and effective step aerobics exercises for this special population.
By the end of this course, you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to create dynamic and effective step aerobics routines for individuals and groups of all fitness levels, and provide your clients with a fun and challenging workout experience.
The standard cost of the Step Aerobics course is €200.00.
The discounted rate for graduates of the National Qualification in Exercise, Health Studies and Personal Training is €170.00.

Before we begin, we would like to ensure that your primary fitness instructor qualification, which must include a group fitness module, meets the eligibility requirements approved by REPS Ireland. We kindly request that you double-check if your qualification is eligible for this course. If you’re unsure, please do not worry! Just send a scanned copy of your primary fitness qualification to info@ntc.ie before the course start date, and we will confirm whether you are eligible to participate.
We also want to remind you that your professional indemnity insurance cover is only valid if you hold a valid, industry recognised primary qualification at minimum EQF Level 3 in fitness instruction which includes a group fitness module. This is to guarantee that you are fully covered and protected as you progress on your professional development journey.

Only fully qualified tutors deliver the National Qualification in Step Aerobics, with each tutor having recognised industry and educational experience in their individual fields.
Fitness ACP courses are generally delivered over a single day, 2 mornings, 2 evenings or weekends. Our planning is based on the numbers registered and the decision to proceed with a course is based on the registered number of participants.
If you can’t make it for the time you have booked you will forfeit any fees paid. It may be possible, although not guaranteed, to reschedule your participation for a later date.
If there is a medical reason for non-participation we will, subject to receipt of valid medical certification, reschedule your participation to a later date.

This course is a continuing professional development course for qualified health fitness professionals and it is the responsibility of each individual applying for the course to check whether their primary fitness instructor qualification meets the eligibility requirements and is approved by REPS Ireland.
A copy of your primary fitness qualification which must include group fitness / exercise to music must be scanned and emailed to info@ntc.ie prior to the course starting date.
Professional Indemnity Insurance cover is only valid if you hold a valid, industry recognised primary qualification at minimum EQF Level 3 in fitness instruction which includes group fitness.
