Become a qualified group fitness instructor with the National Qualification in Group Fitness and Exercise to Music which is a comprehensive programme that covers various aspects related to group fitness and exercise to music. The course is designed to equip fitness professionals with the knowledge and skills required as a group fitness instructor to lead a range of group exercise classes and help clients achieve their fitness goals.

The programme includes modules on health, wellness, and lifestyle management, which are essential to the group fitness instructor in understanding the needs of clients and designing appropriate fitness classes. Students will also learn about exercise and special conditions, which provides them with a deeper understanding of the different health conditions that can impact a client’s fitness journey.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, learners will possess the knowledge, understanding, and competencies necessary to:

Plan, design, and instruct a range of group fitness classes for a diverse range of participants that aligns with their scope of practice and meets individual needs, such as age, fitness level, and special populations, as a group fitness instructor.

Modify and adapt various exercises to ensure appropriate progression or regression according to the participants’ abilities, demonstrating the expertise of a group fitness instructor.

Prepare the environment and equipment for a range of group fitness classes, taking into account health and safety considerations, the training environment (indoor/outdoor), and emergency procedures, which is crucial for any group fitness instructor.

Use music effectively to motivate and enhance the group fitness class, creating an engaging and energising atmosphere, as part of the skill set of a group fitness instructor.

Conduct a verbal health screening check before beginning a class, ensuring that all participants are suitable and safe to engage in the session, which is a key responsibility of a group fitness instructor.

Instruct a range of group fitness classes using clear and effective verbal and visual cueing to ensure that the class is taught in a well-organised manner with smooth transitions, demonstrating the expertise of a competent group fitness instructor.

Observe and correct poor performance while maintaining the flow of the class in a safe, effective, and appropriate manner, which is an essential responsibility of a group fitness instructor.

Engage with customers, fostering positive relationships, and providing excellent professional service that meets their needs and expectations, as part of the role of a group fitness instructor in delivering a high-quality fitness experience.

Fees

The cost of the Primary Group Fitness & Exercise to Music Course is €1,195.00 

A discount of €250.00 is available if fees are paid one calendar month before the course starting date which means the course will cost €945.00.

This represents excellent value as the fee is inclusive of the Kettlebell and Suspension Training Certifications, which alone would cost €510 if booking as individual courses.

You can book by paying a deposit and still get the full discount if the balance of fees is paid at least one month before the course start date. Alternatively you can poay the deposit followed by 3 installments of €265.00.

Eligibility

This course is open to qualified fitness instructors who hold a REPs approved EQF Level 3 Fitness Instructor qualification (as a minimum requirement). If your qualification is not REPs approved please submit a copy to [email protected] and we will check if you meet the eligibility requirements to receive a professional development certificate. This course is not suitable for those who do not hold a fitness qualification.

Assessment

Learners will be assessed through:

  • Submission of Learner Workbook
  • Observed Summative Group Fitness Assessment

The National Training Centre have been delivering respected educational programmes since 1985 and during that time we have had many questions asked by potential students before registration. Here you can find the answers to the questions we receive most often.

This course is open to qualified fitness instructors who hold a REPs approved EQF Level 3 Fitness Instructor qualification (as a minimum requirement). If your qualification is not REPs approved please submit a copy to [email protected] and we will check if you meet the eligibility requirements to receive a professional development certificate. This course is not suitable for those who do not hold a fitness qualification.

Fitness ACP courses are generally delivered over a single day, 2 mornings, 2 evenings or weekends. Our planning is based on the numbers registered and the decision to proceed with a course is based on the registered number of participants.

If you can’t make it for the time you have booked you will forfeit any fees paid. It may be possible, although not guaranteed, to reschedule your participation for a later date.

If there is a medical reason for non-participation we will, subject to receipt of valid medical certification, reschedule your participation to a later date.
