The National Qualification in Client Appraisal and Motivational Interviewing course covers all relevant areas to ensure that your clients adhere to positive behavioural change for fitness.

This CPD course will provide qualified gym instructors and personal trainers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to use motivational interviewing techniques to enable them to promote positive behavioural change with their clients and encourage them to adapt to healthier behaviours.
This course will focus on the soft skills, including interpersonal skills, listening skills, time management, empathy and other skills that trainers need when conducting one to one consultation sessions with clients either in person or online.

The Client Appraisal and Motivational Interviewing for Fitness course covers all relevant areas including:
- How to consult and support clients to change exercise behaviour
- Define Health
- Identify lifestyle factors that affect health and wellbeing
- Discuss the implications of short and long term physical activity on health and wellbeing
- Describe the psychological factors that may influence an individual’s willingness to change to a healthy lifestyle
- Range of theories and approaches that can motivate positive behaviour change
- Goal setting and how to support clients to achieve short and long term goals
- Understanding how technology can be used to support exercise adherence
- Established protocols for health screening and fitness assessment for individuals participating in supervised exercise sessions
- The use of different styles of communication techniques that can be used to motivate the client during the consultation process
- How to consult/interview and support clients to change their exercise behaviour both in person face to face and online via TeleHealth consultation
- How to seek evidence-based/reputable health and wellbeing advice

The standard cost of the Client Appraisal and Motivational Interviewing for Fitness course is €145.00.
The discounted rate for graduates of the National Qualification in Exercise, Health Studies and Personal Training is €125.00.
- eligibility

This course is a continuing professional development course for qualified health fitness professionals and it is the responsibility of each individual applying for the course to check whether their primary fitness instructor qualification meets the eligibility requirements and is approved by REPS Ireland.
A copy of your primary fitness qualification must be scanned and emailed to info@ntc.ie prior to the course starting date.
Professional Indemnity Insurance cover is only valid if you hold a valid, industry recognised primary qualification at minimum EQF Level 3 in fitness instruction.
